Otto Wood Dead and Gone

Saturday, Feb 18th, held a few great events that I got to be a part of:

Paige Randolph exhibited her tender photos at the Gormley Gallery at Notre Dame. I got to sit in a corner and play the pale-blue stratocaster I bought last week. A shy little girl kept peeking out from her mother legs, and finally started dancing when I picked “Freight Train” fast enough.

At night I played the Let ‘Em Talk Records benefit show at Charm City Cakes. The ever-charismatic Michael Patrick Smith played before me and got the crowd singing along with him. We pled with Otto Wood. “Why didn’t you run? Otto Wood dead and gone. Why didn’t you run, when the man drew his .44 gun?” And then I got to play the $40 Silvertone I also bought last week. It sounded like a clean transistor radio. I love that guitar.

Two guitars. Two shows. That’s how I roll.
