Thank God For Every Second
As I enter into 2006, I’m thankful for many things.
I’m grateful for the amazing folks I spend my life with. I’m pretty lucky to have friends whose doors I can show up at uninvited, and that they’ll invite me in for tea. There’s a deep kindness at the heart of my circle of friends. That’s the main thing I cherish. Good people.
And now, I’ve been given this great opportunity to play music more often. Hot dog! I can’t think of anything more inspiring and laden with responsibility. I’m thankful for the ace band I get to play with every week. The Brakemen are the real deal, the best collection of musicians and guys I’ve played with, and I can’t wait to see what songs we’re playing in five years.
I’m thankful for Baltimore. A place so removed in every way from the Colorado towns I grew up in. Baltimore has a way of stripping people to their essence. You will often hear it described as a “real” place–somewhere with authenticity. And I’m thankful for this place and everything it gives me every day.
Strap yourself in. 2006 is going to be good.
